Missed dose time checker
Forgot a dose? Most leaflets answer the question in hours. This works out the hours for you, so you can match them to what your leaflet says.
What to check next
- Find the missed dose section in the leaflet that came with the medicine. It is often headed "If you forget to take it".
- Many leaflets give a cut-off in hours, or say what to do when it is nearly time for the next dose. Compare it with the times above.
- Most leaflets say not to take two doses at once to make up for a missed one.
- No leaflet, or not sure? Ask a pharmacist. They answer this question every day, by phone too.
Check with your pharmacist or the leaflet. This page cannot tell you what to do about a missed dose.

Arithmetic only, not medical advice. The right step after a missed dose depends on the medication.
Why the hours matter
Missed dose advice is different for each medicine, but it is usually written in time. One leaflet might say to take it if you remember within a few hours. Another might say to skip it if the next dose is close. A few medicines have stricter rules. Knowing exactly how long it has been, and how long until the next dose, makes the leaflet much easier to follow.
