Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing or using Cadence, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

What Cadence is

Cadence is a medication tracking and reminder tool designed to help you build consistent habits. It provides scheduling, journey tracking, adherence insights, drug interaction information and optional Apple Health integration to display health metrics alongside your medication data.

What Cadence is not

Cadence is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. The drug interaction information is for general awareness only and may not cover all possible interactions. Health data displayed from Apple Health is for informational purposes only and should not be used as a basis for medical decisions. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making decisions about your medications or health.

Health insights and correlations

Cadence generates health insights, correlations, patterns and scores (including the Rhythm Score, behaviour impact cards and medication timeline analysis) based on statistical analysis of your personal data. These are not clinical findings. They should not be interpreted as proof that a medication is or is not working. Always discuss health trends with your healthcare provider before making changes to your treatment.

Medication information

Medication information provided in the app, including descriptions, common side effects and usage guidance, is sourced from public references and may not be complete, current or applicable to your situation. Always consult your pharmacist or doctor for medication-specific advice.

Adherence reports

Adherence reports generated by Cadence are based on your self-reported data and automated analysis. They may contain errors or omissions. Reports are intended to support conversations with your healthcare provider, not replace clinical assessment.

Notifications

Cadence sends medication reminders via device notifications. Notification delivery depends on your device settings, network conditions and operating system behaviour. Notification timing may be adjusted based on your usage patterns. You should not rely solely on Cadence notifications for time-critical medications. We are not responsible for notifications that are delayed, missed or delivered at unexpected times.

Eligibility

You must be at least 17 years of age to use Cadence. If you are under 17, you may only use Cadence with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these terms on your behalf.

Your responsibilities

Free trial and purchases

New users receive a 7-day free trial of Pro features at no cost. Pro features are disabled after the trial period unless purchased. No payment information is collected during the trial. No auto-renewal. The trial does not convert into a charge; you pay once if and when you choose to unlock Pro permanently. Cadence offers a free tier (Today and Journal) and a one-time Pro purchase (Insights and Companion/Journey). The Pro purchase is non-recurring and grants permanent access to all Pro features. Refunds are handled through the platform you purchased from (e.g. Apple App Store).

Apple Health

Cadence can optionally read and write data from Apple Health. Cadence reads heart rate, resting heart rate, HRV, blood pressure, respiratory rate, SpO2, steps, weight, blood glucose and sleep, and writes symptom and mood data from your journal entries. You control which permissions are granted through the Health app on your device. We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of data read from Apple Health, and we are not responsible for how Apple Health stores or manages data written by Cadence.

Caregiver sharing

Cadence allows you to share adherence reports with caregivers or family members using your device's share functionality. Any caregiver sharing is initiated by you. You are responsible for deciding what to share and with whom. Cadence is not responsible for what is shared or how recipients use the information. Cadence does not control or store shared messages once they leave the app.

Location-based reminders

Cadence offers optional geo-fence reminders that depend on Core Location accuracy and iOS location services. Reminders are not guaranteed to fire when location services are disabled, restricted or imprecise. You should not rely on geo-fence reminders alone for time-critical medications.

Label scanning

Cadence offers an optional label-scanning feature that uses optical character recognition (OCR) to read medication labels. Camera access is required and is requested when you start a scan. Images are processed on-device using iOS's built-in Vision framework and are not transmitted. This feature is provided for convenience only. OCR may produce inaccurate or incomplete results. You are responsible for verifying all scanned information before saving it. We are not liable for any errors introduced by the scanning process.

Limitation of liability

Cadence is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We are not liable for any missed doses, health outcomes, adverse reactions or damages of any kind arising from your use of the app, including any reliance on drug interaction information, health insights or correlations, adherence reports, scanned label data or data from Apple Health. You use Cadence entirely at your own risk.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cadence, its developers and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use or misuse of the app, your violation of these terms or your reliance on information provided by Cadence. Cadence is made by PaperCloud Studios.

Intellectual property

All content, design, code, trademarks and data within Cadence (including the medication database) are owned by or licensed to Cadence and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute or reverse-engineer any part of the app without prior written permission.

Governing law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts of New South Wales, Australia. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy conferred by the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable law that cannot be excluded, restricted or modified by agreement.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Cadence after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
