Course end date calculator

A course that started midweek rarely ends on an easy date. Enter when you started and how much you were given to see your last day.

If you enter tablets, they are used instead of days. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

What the date tells you

The first day counts as day one, so a 7 day course that starts on a Monday finishes on the Sunday.

If your first day was a part day, you may have doses left to take the next day. Finish the amount on your label unless your doctor or pharmacist tells you otherwise.

What it leaves out

It assumes every day is the same. For a course where the dose changes, use the taper schedule planner. If you miss doses, the date moves.

Common questions

How do I work out when a course of medication ends?

Add the number of days to your first day, then take away one, because the first day counts. A 7 day course starting on 1 March ends on 7 March.

How many days do 21 tablets last at 3 a day?

7 days. Divide the tablets by how many you take each day.

Should I finish the whole course?

Follow what your doctor or pharmacist told you. Don't stop early or take extra to change the end date without asking them.

What if I miss a dose?

Check the leaflet or ask a pharmacist. A missed dose can change the day your course ends.
