Vitamin D IU to mcg converter

One label says 1,000 IU, another says 25 mcg. They are the same amount. Convert vitamin D and vitamin B12 between the units labels use.

This converts the units on a label. It does not say how much to take. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about your dose.

The conversion factors

Vitamin D. 1 mcg of vitamin D is 40 IU, so 1 IU is 0.025 mcg. The factor is the same for vitamin D2 and D3. Source: the vitamin D fact sheet from the US National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements.

Vitamin B12. Labels give vitamin B12 by weight, in micrograms, and there is no IU figure for it. 1 mg is 1,000 mcg and 1 g is 1,000 mg. Source: the NIH vitamin B12 fact sheet.

IU conversions are different for every vitamin, and some have none, so this tool covers only these two. Other vitamins, such as vitamin A and E, use different factors depending on the form.
